All women in bachelor's and master's studies at the University of Tartu Institute of Computer Science now have the opportunity to apply for a €1,000 scholarship. Wise and the University of Tartu Foundation give out three scholarships to recognise women studying IT. In addition, scholarship holders can get support in networking and finding career options.
"We are focusing on supporting women students, as today there are still significantly fewer women than men working in technical positions. We want to encourage more women to see their future in the exciting world of technology," explained Sandra Horma, Strategy Lead in FinCrime Operations at Wise.
"It is amazing to see the number of women students in computer science curricula constantly increasing. By supporting them, we can help this trend move forward even faster," added Horma.
This academic year, women students make up 30% of all students at the University of Tartu Institute of Computer Science. In the last five years, their number has increased by 4%.
In addition to financial support, the cooperation between Wise and the University of Tartu Foundation helps to build a useful network and opens potential career opportunities for students.
To apply for the scholarship, students must submit an application and a letter of motivation to the University of Tartu Foundation. Additional information about the scholarship and the application process can be found on the University of Tartu Foundation's website.
Application deadline is 10 January 2023.
